Hobbycraft Rochester! | #ShopfloorHeroes

Hello and welcome back to this week's #ShopfloorHeroes blogpost. This week, we have selected Hobbycraft Rochester as our hero store for the fantastic broadcasts they have been sharing and the great conversations they have had with their customers in the build up to the store opening.

Over the past couple of weeks the store have made sure to countdown to the opening, this is a fantastic way to build up excitement and let your local followers on Twitter know when they can make a trip into store!

The store have also been using Twitter to introduce their colleagues. This is a good way to let local followers know who works in the store and what expertise they may have:

Additionally, the store have also been running a local challenge. They have hidden painted rocks in their local area for people to find and bring to the store for a prize. Sharing this on Twitter offers a good opportunity to let a wider audience know about the challenge (especially as the store have ensured to use local geographical hashtags in their tweets). It also enables the store to keep their followers updated regarding which rocks are left to find:

It has been great to see the store's customers reach out to share that they have found a rock. Store colleague James has ensured to promptly respond to let the customers know what they need to do next:

As well as responding to customer mentions, store colleague James has also made sure to welcome all of the stores new followers on Twitter:

James has thanked the individual for following and has also asked them a question. This is a great way to encourage engagement and get to know who is following the store on Twitter. James has also made sure to use personal sign-offs throughout the conversation which is great as it lets the individual know who they are talking to!

Here are some tips of what you could be talking about/ sharing on Twitter when building up excitement for your new store opening:

  • Welcome new followers

  • Countdown

  • Introduce colleagues

  • General updates with what is happening in store
